Poor children art gets London show

An exhibition of lacquer paintings by disadvantaged Vietnamese children opened in London last week as part of the Christina Noble Children Foundation Art and Music Project.

Exhibition visitor Judith Smith said she was moved by the paintings as well as the stories of the children behind the artworks.

"These paintings are brilliant, they are very naive, natural and joyful," said Smith. UK director of the foundation, Kate Greer, told a Viet Nam News correspondent in London that the children were very proud of having their work on show in London and in galleries around the world.

Several of the artworks have already been sold to visitors to the show. Greer said the exhibition profits will be used to fund the project continuing work.

According to Hannal Vallance, former co-ordinator at Christina Noble Children Foundation in HCM City, the foundation has established over 70 projects assisting more than 500,000 poor and vulnerable children since the foundation established in 1991.
