Mong ethnic cultural festival opens in Yen Bai province

In the framework of Muong Lo cultural tourism week, the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai is holding a Mong ethnic cultural festival and has announced a decision from the provincial People Committee on the plans for the Suoi Giang tourist area in Van Chan district.

In Suot Giang, the ancient Shan tea tree is always associated with the lives of the Mong ethnic people. It has helped local people to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and gradually helped them to raise their standard of living.

The Mong ethnic cultural festival is an opportunity to glorify the value of the ancient tree and help tourists understand more about the role of the tree in Mong ethnic people lives. During happy days and festivals, the head of a village always carry out a ritual at the ancient tree which is considered as a symbol of the history and culture of the land.

Traditional sports and cultural activities such as Khen dancing, Pao throwing and the tug of war will also be held during the festival.
