Da Nang The appeal of the sea 2007 Festival
The Da Nang Sea Calling 2007 festival opened in the morning of June 16. This is the first time a specialised travel festival held in the central city of Da Nang. The festival activities are held on 20km of beach of Da Nang, from Non Nuoc to Xuan Thieu Nam O.
According to Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Ngo Quang Vinh, the festival is held to introduce tourists to Da Nang tourism potentials and to kick off big travel programmes of Da Nang from now to 2010.
Within five days, diving tours to see coral, adventure tours to discover the Son Tra peninsula, night cuttle-fish catching tours, water-skiing, beach volleyball, beer bathing festival, and traditional games will be held to create a traditional-modern tourism festival.
After the opening ceremony, a march called œWalking with sea lovers took place on Son Tra Dien Ngoc road with the participation of 40 flower cyclos, 30 motorbikes and 15 Jeeps and nearly 10,000 people.
In the evening of June 15, the Da Nang food festival opened at My Khe Hotel and Son Tra Dien Ngoc road, introducing special cuisines of reputed restaurants and hotels in Da Nang.
On the same night, a street dancing festival took place on the 3km Bach Dang Road along the Han River, seeing the attendance of more than 5,000 local youth and hundreds of members of the Peace Boat cruise ship from Japan.
The Vietnam Japan cultural exchange night also took place impressively at the Da Nang Youth Cultural House.
According to Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Ngo Quang Vinh, the volume of tourists to Da Nang on this occasion suddenly rises. Most hotels are full with visitors.
