Miss Vietnam Jewelry 2007 starts
The race is on to find the young beauty who will be crowned Miss Vietnam Jewelry 2007.
The biennial competition is open to Vietnamese women aged 18-27, including those residing abroad but still bearing Vietnamese nationality. The candidates must be single, graduates from senior high schools or higher education, and be at least 1.6 meters tall.
Organized by the Vietnam Gemstones, Jewelry and Art Craft Association, and the magazine Jewelry & Art Craft Fashion, the competition honors women who can bring out the best in a locally crafted piece of jewelry.
The contestants must submit applications including three 10x15cm photographs wearing gold, silver or gemstone jewelry. All entries must be submitted by May 19.
Their number will be whittled down to 30 for the final competition at the National Convention Center in Hanoi late this year.
Miss Vietnam Jewelry 2007 will receive VND75 million (US$4,667) in cash, a crown and a trip abroad.
The prizes for the first runner-up will be VND50 million plus a foreign trip, and the second runner-up will win VND30 million and a trip abroad.
The organizers will also hold a competition for jewelry designers. The best design will receive the œGolden Hand prize, awarded with VND45 million in cash. Second place will receive the œSilver Hand, worth VND30 million, and third place will get the œBronze Hand award with VND15 million. The winners will all be eligible to enjoy a trip abroad.
Their wining designs will be auctioned to raise money for the poor.
