Harry Potter 7 to hit bookstores in Vietnam
According to the Book Distribution Company of HCM City (Fahasa), Harry Potter sole distributor in Vietnam, the last volume in English of the series will be released in Vietnam and worldwide simultaneously.
The release date of J.K.Rowling Harry Potter 7, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is 7.30 am on July 21, Vietnamese time. This last volume promises to be a great attraction since its content will be kept secret until the last minute.
Fahasa and Bloomsbury Publishing House have clinched a copyright deal that strictly follows the Berne Convention. Fahasa will have the copies of the book 7 days before the international issue date.
Fahasa is also to transport these copies from England back to Vietnam by air and ensure copyright security throughout the process. According to Fahasa, it will have to pay nearly VND500million (US$31,250) for transportation costs.
The retail price of the book in Vietnam will be VND575,000 (US$36). And there will be two versions: for adults and children. The contents of the two versions are the same, yet book covers will be different.
Customers who will make reservations before July 1 at Fahasa bookstores will receive a 5% discount off the cover price. Reservations can be made through telephone or at Fahasa website, www.fahasasg.com.vn.
A representative from Bloomsbury in Thailand will observe the release of the book in Vietnam. Tre Publishing House has also completed paperwork to buy Harry Potter 7 copyright and translate it into Vietnamese. The Vietnamese version is expected to be released in mid October.
