Vietnamese photographers score big at intl contest
With ten gold medals, three trophies and an honourable mention, Vietnamese photographers won almost 50 % of the prizes at the 14th Macao International Salon of Photography 2007.
This international photo contest is organised each two years by the Photographic Society of Macao (PSM) and sponsored by the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the International Federation of Art Photography (FIAP).
In this year contest, besides special prizes and prizes awarded by FIAP and PSA, there were 6 trophies and 20 medals. The contest attracted 2,000 works as well as 500 photographers from 45 countries all over the world. These works will be exhibited in Macao from June 23-29, 2007.
In the monochrome prints category, Le Hong Linh won the Macao Trophy for best set. The FIAP gold medal for best portrait monochrome print was awarded to Hoang Quoc Tuan Reflecting Eyes. Vuong Quoc Kim Mum! won an FIAP silver medal.
Other prizes included a silver medal for Tran Phong Dependence; four bronze medals for Le Hong Linh Fishers, Le Thi Diem Phuc Visiting the Net, Nguyen Ba Trung Silent Work, and Duong Thanh Khoi Sweet Baby Bottle; and an FIAP honorable mention for Dao Tien Dat The Turning Point # 3.
In the colour prints category, Vietnam also won a silver trophy for La To Hue To Embrace; a bronze trophy and a bronze medal for Pham Duc Help!; a silver medal for Tran Vinh Nghia Joy in the Rain, and a bronze medal for Joy in the New Wind by Tran Vinh Nghia.
