Vietnam isnt the first Asian country the famous DJ has been to. She said she had performed in China, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia many times before. And for her first performance ever in Hanoi, her manager had to plan half a year in advance.
So how did she find Hanoi audiences? Diamond said she hardly saw a difference between Hanoians and audiences in other countries. œAll are music fans. The differences in culture and geography seem to be erased by the love of music, said she.
But if she must describe Hanoi music fans in a clearer term, Diamond said the hundred fans that crowded the Nutz Fun Pub at Sheraton Hotel on the evening of August 3 were very passionate. œVietnamese youth is wonderful, effervescent, and extremely fond of music. They danced without stop throughout the whole programme.
"They reminded me of the people in my hometown in Hawaii: passionate, friendly, yearning to shine, said DJ Diamond, who was born and grew up in the mountainous region of Koolau on the Hawaiian Islands.
She left her hometown early, though, for the more bustling atmosphere of San Diego in order to pursue the passion of her life: becoming a professional DJ. And her efforts paid off. Diamond is a world-renowned DJ now, and with an attractive face and sexy body, she has continuously appeared on the front pages of the likes of Playboy, Maxim, FHM, and Esquire.
œBut I am not a model. I am an artist, a DJ. Working with music is never merely a job to me. It is my great passion, my endless joy, my life-long love. When I am a DJ, I live my great dream. In music, I find my place in life, affirmed Diamond, who has always tried to prove she is not just another beautiful blonde girl, but an artist with solid talents, a beautiful œdiamond inside and out.
She said she chose to be known as Diamond since she saw herself in it. œDiamonds exude something that is both feminine and energetic. This is my favorite type of woman. I want to create an image of myself that is attractive as well as strong, said the 37-year-old artist.
During her short visit to Hanoi, Diamond said she didnt have a chance to enjoy beautiful sceneries in the country, but she did taste a cup of local black coffee and a bowl of pho, or what she called traditional œsoup. œSee you next time. I will enjoy myself more if I have more time to stay and travel then, said she with a wink.
