After 21 years in close relation with Vietnam, French photographer Nicolas Cornet will hold his first photo exhibition about Vietnam in HCM City, which will open on April 6 at the HCM City Museum of Arts.

Besides photos taken by Cornet within many months in southern provinces of Vietnam, the exhibition also has photos extracted from the latest photo book by Cornet, published in France in 2007 (Chene Publishing House).

The exhibition will close on April 19 and there the audiences will have a chance to see photos, read short stories and watch footage collected by the photographer.

Cornet said like saving the moments marking the development of a child in a family album, in the past 21 years he has recorded the development of Vietnam in each hour and each day.

œI can see changes like one sits in a room to see the whole country, people, characteristics and landmarks of a nation. My photos are moments of this contemporary life, Cornet said.

Coming to Vietnam for the first time in 2007, Cornet has equipped himself well in Vietnamese. He not only works in Vietnam but gets married a Vietnamese girl. As a Vietnamese son-in-law, he has opportunities to learn more about culture, lifestyle and the people of Vietnam.

Cornet is now a photographer and a freelancer journalist. He is coordinating with many European dailies and magazines like L'Espresso, Le Monde, Figaro Magazine, D - La Repubblica. He has had several exhibitions in France, Germany, Switzerland, Indonesia and Hanoi.

œVietnam, Rising-up Life exhibition is part of the French Week in Vietnam, organized under the sponsor of the French Consulate General in HCM City.
