Pop singers get ready for summer
Pop singers Ho Ngoc Ha, My Tam, Phuong Vy and Pham Quynh Anh are all readying new assaults on the hearts of fans.
Appearing in a television commercial with legends and would-be legends like Marylin Monroe, Madonna, Beyonce and Bollywood Aishwarya Rai, Vietnamese model Ha has found herself in good company as she promotes her fourth album.
Ha also preparing the June release abroad of a double CD, with one disc in Vietnamese and one in English, and is planning her first live show for the end of this year.
She is also preparing an attack on the lucrative Japanese market by working as a model for Japanese magazines and advertising spots.
Meanwhile, after a while away from the limelight, singer My Tam also promises a new assault on the pop music market this year. Her new CD, her sixth, entitled Thoi Gian va Toi (Time and I) will be launched with a tour in South Korea. The cover of the album can already be seen on Tam website.
The Korean tour was inspired by the success of her album Vut Bay (Sudden Flight) which was produced in co-operation with South Korea Nurimaru Pictures. Tam once again choose to make her new album in Korea and has been spending time there on the project since last year. She has spent time for this project since last year.
While these veteran singers prepare their new projects, Viet Nam Idol Phuong Vy has released her first album Luc Moi Yeu (Moment of First Love) earlier this month. She also has a one-year contact with Samsung and will be appearing in their coming advertising campaign.
Her album includes a bonus DVD, including clips produced by the blockbuster Dong Mau Anh Hung (The Rebel) crew, two of which will be submitted to MTV Asia.
"The clips are international standard so we hope they will be chosen to broadcast," said a representative of the Music Faces company.
Emerging singer Pham Quynh Anh, most recently a member of the group H.A.T., launched her new CD with a thousand free discs for fans. The featured song Nuoc Trong Nguon (Water in Spring) is by composer Quang Huy.
"I wrote this song in five minutes with much inspiration from my mother," said Huy. "But it is a result of a long time working over many years. Our work is sacred and we want to share the emotion with the audiences."
Finally, singers Nhat Tinh Anh, Khanh Ngoc and Le Dung are joining forces for a CD and a live show in June with support from the South Korean sound and light technicians, said Duy Khanh, director of the Green Music Co.
The show will feature guest artists from the South Korea and two additional young singers, Vu Bao and Anh Thuy, who are newcomers to Green Music.
