Family galleries at Co Do village

Many painters in Co Do village in the northern province of Ha Tay have never studied at any art school. They study painting art from senior villagers with burning passion.

Known as a cultural and study village in the past, Co Do village is now famous with 60 painters, 16 members of the Vietnam Arts Association and the Union of Culture and Art Associations of Ha Tay province.

Many painters of Co Do village have never studied at any art school, learning exclusively from senior villagers.

Starting from a painting class for children opened in the village by famous painter Sy Tot in 1976, many Co Do villagers have become famous painters as well, such as Sy Tuan, Sy Thiet, Tran Hoa and La Vuong.

The Art Club of Co Do currently has 30 member painters, who are living in the village. Each two or three years, the club organises a painting exhibition at the village temple, on the occasion of village festivals.
